This smelter project profile volume is an additional volume of the Aluminium Long Term Market Outlook, 2014 Edition. It contains double page cost profiles with disaggregated cost information for 83 primary aluminium brownfield expansions and greenfield smelting capacity projects in the world in real 2013 US dollars. We use this information as a reference when calculating the long run marginal cost of new capacity. The profiles are organised by likelihood of the project going ahead, with projects split into the categories Under Construction, Probable, Possible and Completed. Smelter projects at the same stage are then ordered by world excluding China and China, and then alphabetically. Section 2 includes a guide to the smelter cost profiles to help the reader understand the definitions and methodology used by CRU.
