前言
In recent years concerns about bisphenol A exposure (BPA) and its influence on human health have dramatically increased as numerous reports and studies have identified pathways targeted by BPA; as well the finding that a variety of organs are affected by BPA exposure in humans at all stage of life. This latest discovery on BPA and human health has raised a lot of questions on the mechanism of action BPA and its severity in human exposure.
With the community of researchers focusing on BPA growing worldwide, new techniques and methodologies are available via novel discoveries that were made in recent years. This book is intended to provide researchers and medical doctors with a background and an up-to-date knowledge of recent advances in BPA research. This book includes a comprehensive list of references encompassing an array of scientific publications on BPA related studies.
In hindsight, the goal of this textbook is to provide researchers and medical doctors with a concise but comprehensive understanding of the latest discoveries regarding BPA exposure and human health. The aim of this book is to help those working on BPA related issues with scientifically grounded principles and fundamental information which can be used to study BPA exposure in human health.
This book would not have been possible without the help of numerous contributors and the editor would like to thank all authors for their time and effort in preparing and formatting their chapters and for sharing their expertise and knowledge on BPA research.
This text book is organized in nine chapters: "Introduction (Chapter 1), "BPA and adverse effects in humans" (Chapter 2), "BPA evaluation in human samples" (Chapter 3), "BPA and urinary biomarkers" (Chapter 4), "BPA and non-canonical receptors" (Chapter 5), "BPA and obesity" (Chapter 6), "BPA and tooth" (Chapter 7), "BPA and cell immunity" (Chapter 8) and "BPA and cytokines" (Chapter 9). This chapter list is not exhaustive but can be used as a good starting point for those working with BPA, especially for those who are new to the field of BPA related studies.
