Having secured more than three-quarters of the seats at the January 2014 election, which was boycotted by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), the Awami League (AL) will dominate parliament in the forecast period.
The BNP regards the AL government as illegitimate, but its calls for early elections have garnered little public support, owing to its boycott of the January poll. However, it will carry on organising demonstrations.
