The president, Xi Jinping, appears dominant within the ruling Chinese Communist Party (CCP). In 2015-19 his government will focus on reforms aimed at raising economic productivity and addressing issues of social justice.
Political controls will remain tight in 2015-19. However, Mr Xi will push for reforms aimed at turning the CCP into a more effective governing outfit; changes to the legal and judicial system are likely to be a focus.
