The Economist Intelligence Unit expects fighting between Ukrainian forces and Russian-backed militias to continue sporadically in eastern Ukraine in 2015, but at a lower level than in June-August 2014.
However, there remains a significant risk that Russian and Russian-backed forces will launch a broader offensive in early 2015, possibly to establish a land bridge between the breakaway territories in eastern Ukraine and Crimea.
