The National Democratic Alliance led by the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP)，
which formed a government in May 2014 after winning a majority in the
general election，will remain in power throughout the forecast period．
The BJP's majority in the lower house of parliament will work in favour of
economic reform，but the party has an inferior position in the upper house
and must contend with India's federal structure．
