The president，Xi Jinping，is increasingly dominant within the ruling Chinese
Communist Party(CCP)．In 2014-18 his government will focus on reforms
aimed at raising economic productivity and addressing issues of social justice．
The decision to launch a corruption investigation into a former security tsar,
Zhou Yongkang，could stoke factional tensions in 2014—18．Other senior retired
leaders may agitate against Mr Xi if they fear that they could also be targeted．
