The Economist Intelligence Unit expects the coalition of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and the Popular Party (CDS-PP) to see out its full term to 2015. The government has been buoyed by its exit from the three-year EU/IMF bail-out.
However, the reduced influence and oversight of the EU/IMF following the end of the bail-out has allowed the government's fiscal discipline to slip ahead of the next general election in 2015.
