The president, Xi Jinping, appears dominant within the ruling Chinese Communist Party (CCP). However, an ongoing anti-corruption campaign is likely to stoke fectional tensions within the CCP in 2015-19.
Owing partly to lower global oil prices and also to excess supply in the (economy, we expect annual consumer price inflation to average 1.2% in 2015, while producer prices will fell by 3.2%. Inflation will accelerate in 2016-19.
The renminbi is expected to weaken against the US dollar in 2015, marking its
first annual average depreciation since 1994. It should rebound in 2016-17,
before depreciating again in 2018-19 as the current account moves into deficit.
