Output from the oil industry, which accounts for around 50% of GDP, will decline overall in 2015-19. However, investment will remain high in the energy sector in advance of the launch of the Shah Deniz II gasfield in late 2018.
Brent crude prices are now forecast to average US$54/barrel in 2015, compared with US$98.9/b in 2014. This will lead to a sharp fell in export and budget revenue.
