Having secured more than three-quarters of the seats at the January election, which was boycotted by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), the Awami league (AL) will dominate parliamentary proceedings in the forecast period.
Consumer price inflation will remain stubbornly high in 2015, at 7.3%, compared with an estimated 7.2% in 2014. Inflation will moderate in 2016-19, with price increases averaging 6.4% a year.
The current account will remain in the black for most of the forecast period, with the surplus averaging 0.1% of GDP in 2015-19. Remittances will continue to fully offset the deficits on trade in goods and services until 2018.
