The president,Franqois HoUande of the Parti socialiste (PS)，will serve his full
term，but his popularity has plununeted．There is a reasonable probability
that he will be ousted by the centre-right opposition in elections due in 2017.
The government intends to slow the pace of fiscal consolidation. We expect budget deficit of 4.4% of GDP in 2014 and 2015, and have pushed back to 2019 the date we expect France to meet its 3% target, four years behind schedule.
We expect inflation (EU harmonised measure) to average 0.7% in 2014 and 1.2% in 2015-19, in line with weak euro zone price pressures.
