We have revised down our forecast for inflation in 2015 to -0.5%. Oil prices will remain low in 2015-16, and there will be little domestic inflationary pressure. In 2016-19 we forecast average inflation of 2.4% per year.
Low oil prices will keep the current account in surplus in 2015-16. Thereafter it will move back into deficit, but the shortfall will be contained by the weak state of domestic demand and the consequent constraint on imports.
