A minority red-green centre-left coalition government consisting of the Social Democratic Party (SAP) and the Green Party has taken office following the general election in September 2014.
The minority status of the new government exposed it to a political attack from the far-right Sweden Democrats (SD) in early December, when the SD blocked the coalition's 2015 budget proposal, causing a government crisis.
