The main threat to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is discontent at the rate of improvement in living standards. This will be a key election issue in 2016 and could well cost the NDC power.
Inflation will remain elevated in 20x5-16 as the fiscal deficit remains large, before gradually felling to an average of 8.8% in 2019 as fiscal policy tightens.
The large current-account deficit will come down gradually during the forecast period, as oil production grows and crude prices recover.
