The Economist Intelligence Unit assigns a high risk to the collapse of the fragile two-party coalition of the centre-right New Democracy (ND) and the centre-left Panhellenic Socialist Movement (Pasok), leading to a new election.
We estimate a return to real GDP growth, of 0.4%, in 2014. We forecast an acceleration to average annual growth of 3% in 2015-19.
We forecast a return to mildly positive annual inflation of 0.2% in 2015, followed by annual average inflation of 1.3% in 2016-19, owing to a gradual .pick-up in demand.
