The Economist Intelligence Unit expects the grand coalition of the centre-right Christian Democratic Union (CDUVChristian Social Union (CSU) and the centre-left Social Democratic Party (SPD) to last its full four-year term to 2017.
The policy agenda will be slightly more left-leaning than under the previous centre-right government. There will be no serious reform to tackle Germany's long-term demographic challenges.
