摘要

Spain is the second-largest automotive manufacturer in Europe—behind Germany-having produced 24m vehicles in 2014, a 10% jump from 2013. This follows a similar increase last year, but output remains short of the 2007 record of 2.9m units.
After severe declines in 2008-12, the Spanish automotive market began a turnaround in 2013. It picked up speed last year, when passenger-car registrations rose by 18.4%, aided by the combination of economic recovery, pent-up replacement demand and a government scrappage scheme, the Plan PIVE, which was extended for the seventh time in November. Registrations of commercial vehicles rocketed by one-third, to a level not seen since 2010.
The Economist Intelligence Unit forecasts a 9.3% increase in car registration in 2015, implying sales of 935,000 vehicles. Growth will decelerate thereafter, and by the end of the forecast period (2019) we expect annual registrations to total just over 1m, still well below the annual average of 1.5m in the decade before the crisis hit. Growth in commercial vehicle sales will be less strong in 2015, but will decelerate less sharply thereafter.
