摘要
As of 2012, healthcare expenditure in Egypt accounts for around 5% of GDP, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO). This is higher than in Saudi Arabia (4.3% in 2012) but lower than in Israel (8%). Egypt's spending is expected to rise steadily to 54% of GDP by the end of the forecast period in 2018.
We expect healthcare spending to rise to US$25bn in 2018, up from US$13bn in 2013. This implies annual average growth of 13.9% over the 2014-18 forecast period (15.7% in local currency terms). Nearly 2 percentage points of this rise in spending will be down to population growth, and we expect healthcare spending per head to rise from US$158.6 in 2014 to US$279.1 in 2018.
