Auto production has come to assume a key role in an economy where exports account for almost 80％of GDP,well above the EU average．The automotive sector,which has artracted a large proportion of foreign direct investment(FDI)inflows since the mid-1990s，constitutes 23％of total industrial output and generates over 8％ofGDE It represents a core element of the Czech Republic's growth model． After a disappointing year in 2013，the industry showed signs of recovery in 2014．The latest data released by the Czech Automotive Industry Association (AIA)show that car production rose by 9．5％in 2014，and new passenger-car registrations rose by 16．7％。as extemal demand in the euro area picked up following the recession in 2013． The outlook for 2015-16 is encouraging as a result of the economic recovery, which led to a rebound in the sector last year．1he Economist Intelligence Unit expects average growth in passenger-car registrations in 2015 of 1．2％。Over the forecast period as a whole the average growth rate will be 1．3％．
