Denmark's financial services sector accounts for around 5% of GDP. This is a typical size by EU standards, but is smaller than in countries with large, global financial centres, such as the UK, where the figure is around 8-9%.
The banking sector is dominated by two large institutions, Danske Bank and Nordea Bank Danmark, although there are several medium-sized institutions (including Jyske Bank, Nykredit and Sydbank) and over 100 small regional or local banks.
