摘要
Pakistan remains a poor country with extremely wide income inequality. The vast majority of the population cannot afford to buy scooters or motorcycles, let alone cars, and this will remain the case throughout the forecast period. Demand for cars is therefore confined to Pakistan's upper middle class and elite, and the overall car-ownership rate will remain low.
The automotive industry in Pakistan is small, accounting for less than 5% of large-scale manufacturing in the country. Local production will continue to be hampered by infrastructure bottlenecks and the country's long-running energy shortage, as well as still-sluggish economic growth.
