摘要
Brazil is still one of the most attractive automotive markets. In 2011 the country became the world's third-largest market for passenger and light commercial vehicles, overtaking Japan, Germany, the UK, France and Italy in the preceding five years. However, Brazil remains a long way behind the US and China (the leader).
After a multi-year boom, domestic sales of all vehicles declined by 0.9% in 2013 and by another 7.1% in 2014, reflecting tighter credit and weaker consumer confidence. The phasing out of tax breaks and weak private consumption will prevent much of a recovery in 2015, and in the medium term the outlook is for softer growth than in the past.
Brazil produced 3.7m vehicles (of which just over 70% were passenger cars) in 2013, making it the seventh-largest vehicle producer in the world, just behind India. But output plummeted by 15.3% in 2014 to only 3.1m, owing to a 30% drop in exports to Argentina.
