摘要
The Economist Intelligence Unit expects Turkey's young, growing population, rising incomes and expanding access to credit to support solid vehicle sales growth during the forecast period. GDP per head at purchasing power parity (PPP) should rise from a forecast US$19,600 in 2014, already well above the "trigger point" for car sales, to US$24,600 in 2018.
The market will be volatile, however, with consumers reacting to changes in interest rates, exchange rates and availability of credit, all of which are likely to be significantly affected by tightening global liquidity. Around 60% of all new vehicles and 70% of new cars are imported, making car prices sensitive to fluctuations in the exchange rate. We expect the Turkish lira to weaken steadily against the US dollar and the euro.
The government is increasing investment to modernise the railway system, but road transport will continue to dominate, supporting demand growth for vehicles.
