摘要
Hong Kong is one of the world's most sophisticated financial centres. It is among the world's largest foreign-exchange trading centres, and is home to Asia's largest concentration of insurers. Financing and insurance employed over 213490 people in Hong Kong at the end of 2013 (or 5.5% of the total workforce, according to the territory's Census and Statistics Department).
Spending on financial services fluctuates with cyclical changes in the health of the local and regional economies. The Economist Intelligence Unit expects modest growth in both Hong Kong's economy and spending on financial services in 2014-15. Although the direct exposure of the territory's banks and insurers to sovereign debt problems in the euro zone is limited, local financial markets are closely integrated with global ones and would be adversely affected if systemic problems in the euro zone hit global financial flows. The emergence of any major economic problems in China (not our central forecast) would also pose a severe threat to Hong Kong's financial firms.
