Thailand's financial services sector is relatively small, accounting for 5.2% of GDP (at current prices) in the first quarter of 2014. The sector is also small in terms of employee numbers, with around 510,000 staff in June 2014, making up just 1.3% of the national labour force.
Thailand's financial assets were equivalent to an estimated 363% of GDP in 2013, ranking it below Singapore (973% of GDP) and Malaysia (465% of GDP), but ahead of the Philippines (315% of GDP) and Indonesia (111% of GDP).
