摘要
Indonesia has substantial reserves of oil, coal and natural gas. Its proven oil reserves amounted to 3.7bn barrels at end-2013, representing 0.2% of total global reserves, according to the BP Statistical Review 0/ World Energy 2014.
The government's desire to reduce Indonesia's net dependence on imported fuel will lead to increased investment in geothermal energy.
Rising gas demand is curtailing exports of liquefied natural gas (LNG). In 2013 the country signed its first LNG import agreement (with Cheniere Energy of the US, for 800,000 tonnes of LNG per year). Imports are due to begin in 2018. A second agreement with Cheniere, involving the purchase of a further 800,000 tonnes of LNG per year for 20 years from 2019, was signed in mid-2014. Later that year Indonesia signed an agreement to import LNG from Mozambique. Initial shipments are to be about 1.5m tonnes/year (t/y), most likely commencing in 2018 and rising to 3m t/y from 2020.
