The Philippine financial sector is relatively small. The Economist Intelligence Unit estimates that, in 2013, Philippine financial assets were equivalent to 315% of GDP-a lower ratio than those of 468% in Malaysia or 962% in Singapore, but higher than Indonesia's ratio of 110%.
Personal disposable income per head will rise to US$3417 by 2018, from US$2,319 in 2013, but the Philippines will remain one of South-east Asia's poorest countries, with personal disposable income per head below that of Singapore (US$36,120 in 2018), Malaysia (US$9,079) and Thailand (US$5,139). In US dollar terms, personal disposable income in the Philippines will rise by nearly 10% a year on average in 2014-18.
