The Economist Intelligence Unit expects the nationalist Fidesz-Hungarian Civic Union (Fidesz) government to serve a full four-year term, after it won a second successive two-thirds majority in the April 2014 election.
The strength of the far right will probably make Rdesz keen to burnish its nationalist credentials, and further clashes with EU institutions and foreign businesses look likely.
Real annual GDP growth will slow from 3.8% in the first half of 2014 to around 3% for the full year, and an average of 2.5% in 2015-19. We expect annual inflation to rise from zero in 2014 to an average of 2% in 2015-19.
