摘要
High income disparities will mean that the capital, Baku, will remain the main market for consumer goods and retail services in the forecast period as incomes are significantly higher here than other areas. Wages in the agricultural sector, which employs 37% of the population, are around half the national average.
Real wage growth will be slower in 2015-19 than in the historical period. Real wages grew by 8.1% on average in 2005-14, but are forecast to expand by 3.7% in 2015-19. Nonetheless, this will be sufficient to support retail sales growth.
Real disposable incomes are forecast to grow by 5.2% a year on average in 2015-19. An expanding population and gradual increase in the size of the middle class over the forecast period will provide some support to sales volumes. Spending on household goods and furnishings and consumables linked to health and communication will show the strongest growth.
