The Economist Intelligence Unit forecasts that expenditure on healthcare in India will remain at the equivalent of 5% of GDP in 2015. This is less than the average of 6.7% forecast for the Asia and Australasia region.
Increases in personal income, government healthcare outlays and private domestic investment, combined with higher life expectancy, will push up per-head healthcare spending to US$133 in 2018, despite strong growth in the population over the next four years.
