摘要
With a population of just over 23m, Taiwan is a smaller market than most in East Asia. At an estimated US$14,310 in 2013, annual disposable income per head is similar to that in South Korea.
Aided by improving trade and domestic demand, Taiwan's real GDP grew by 3.6% year on year in January-September 2014. In 2015-19 growth will weaken, with GDP rising by an average of 2.7% a year (down from 3.3% in 2009-13).
Households in Taiwan spent around 80% of their income on consumption in 2013. As in other developed economies, the share of spending on food and beverages has been declining, a trend that is expected to continue.
