摘要
Germany is the largest telecommunications market in Europe, with combined revenue (mobile and fixed) estimated at €35.6bn (US$44.5bn) in 2013. The former state monopolist, Deutsche Telekom, is the dominant player in the fixed and broadband markets, overtaking Vodafone (UK) in terms of mobile subscriptions in 2012.
Smartphones enabled with mobile broadband have seen sales soar in recent years, and this trend is expected to continue solidly during the forecast period as such phones become more widely adopted. As a result, revenue in the mobile-phone market is increasingly shifting towards data and other services that still have growth potential. Conversely, revenue from voice and text services is expected to remain fairly stable.
The second-largest operator is Vodafone (UK), with 28% of the market at end-June 2013, down from 31% a year earlier. The two other large operators are E-plus (owned by KPN of the Netherlands) with 22% of total subscriptions and O2 (owned by Telefonica of Spain) with 17%.
