Financial conditions are improving, but the government debt crisis (ongoing since 2010) will continue to have a negative impact on the entire financial services industry. The crisis affects the sector in Greece in at least four ways.
First, the government's drastic austerity measures have led to a prolonged downturn in lending growth, higher loan losses and a spike in non-performing loans (NPLs).
