The Economist Intelligence Unit estimates that retail sales growth in the UAE remained high in 2014 despite slighfly weaker consumer confidence.Growing inbound tourism helped to lift sales. Growth in the value of retail sales is forecast to drop sharply in 2015.As low oil prices take a toll on local confidence and subdued global growth contains spending by tourists.Rising oil prices.Combined with tourism and robust population growth,will then support a return to stronger spending in 2016。19.
The UAE will also continue tO benefit from its relative safety in a volatile region. Risks to the outlook for 2014-18 include a slower than forecast recovery in oil prices,owing,for example,to a weaker than expected global economy.
