摘要
Hong Kong's energy consumption will increase slowly in 2015-20, rising by an average of only 04% a year. Continuing improvements in energy efficiency will largely offset the upward pressure on demand exerted by economic growth. The territory's energy industry will remain small compared with the energy sectors of most countries and also by comparison with other parts of Hong Kong's economy.
As local manufacturers have almost all relocated to China, growth in power consumption will be driven by the commercial sector rather than the industrial sector.
Energy consumption per head in Hong Kong, at an estimated 2.1 tonnes oil equivalent (toe) in 2014, is higher than in some less developed countries in Asia, such as Indonesia (0.9 toe). However, it is significantly below the levels in Singapore (7 toe) and in environmentally conscious developed economies such as Japan (3.7 toe).
