Denmark takes a global lead on climate change and energy policy, and should continue to achieve significant reductions in energy intensity. However, the green agenda will be under political and economic pressure over the forecast period, with a risk that it becomes a casualty to weak economic growth.
Denmark has been the only net energy exporter in the EU since 1997. The country has run a trade surplus in oil and gas for nearly 20 years, generating significant revenue to the state.
