In the forecast period (2014-20), energy consumption will grow at an annual average rate of 2.6% a year. Economic growth is forecast to be weak-and negative in 2014-15—but increased urbanisation and strong demand for energy (owing to very low energy prices) will underpin relatively firm growth in energy consumption. Annual energy consumption is forecast to rise from an estimated 76m tonnes oil equivalent (toe) in 2013 to 92m toe in 2020.
