摘要
The Economist Intelligence Unit estimates that total energy consumption rose to 43.6m tonnes oil equivalent (mtoe) in 2013, up marginally from 43.2 mtoe in 2012. Energy consumption is expected to rise at a modest but steady rate over the forecast period (2014-20) as the economy recovers.
The Czech Republic imports almost all of its oil and gas, primarily from Russia, and is an important European transit country for energy supplies. It is also a large net exporter of electricity, although the outlook for the electricity sector is weaker following the decision made in April by the state-owned energy company, CEZ, to cancel the tender for two new reactors at the Temelin nuclear-power plant. The government says that it remains committed to nuclear power and is considering opening another selection process for building new plants, with five international contractors interested.
