Revenue from mobile-telephony services accounts for an estimated 70% of total spending on telecommunications; a share that will remain stable in 2014-18 as a tapering of growth in mobile subscribers is offset by an expansion of services providers.
The number of mobile phone subscribers has grown exponentially in recent years, and is now reaching saturation levels. The number of mobile phone subscribers is estimated at 49.1m in 2013, a penetration rate of 100.4%. In the forecast period the number of subscribers will grow only gradually, to 52.8m (102%) in 2018, driven by rising consumer expenditure underpinned by firm economic growth.
