摘要
Taiwan has seen a steady rise in healthcare expenditure during the past two decades; it currently accounts for the equivalent of 6.7% of GDP. However, this is less than in other advanced Asian economies such as Japan or South Korea, and far below the 2012 OECD average of 9.3% of GDP Gatest OECD data).
According to the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the proportion of Taiwan's national income spent on healthcare has risen steadily in recent years. However, The Economist Intelligence Unit expects healthcare expenditure as a proportion of GDP to edge down slightly in 2015-19.
We forecast that healthcare spending per head will rise to US$1,781 in 2019, from an estimated US$1,507 in 2014. Health spending will rise by an average of 3.5% a year in local-currency and US dollar terms. Low population growth puts spending per head in US dollar terms only 0.1 percentage points lower.
