摘要
Retail sales will expand in 2014-18,owing to continued growth in local incomes(amid low rates of unemployment)and tourist purchases,although growth in retail volumes will be weak.Rising interest rates and the impact of expected falls in house prices will dent demand growth,particularly in 2016—17.
Continued growth in tourism,especially from mainland China,will underpin rising sales of luxury goods and cosmetics,as well as increased spending in hotels and restaurants.Products and outlets that can cater effectively to the changing tastes of mainland-Chinese tourists will outperform the overall market.
Customer concerns over product quality will remain acute,especially for food,foodservice and pharmaceuticals,where fears regarding poor product quality are greatest(partly owing to inadequate supervision and enforcement mechanisms in mainland China).
