摘要

The financial sector is an important segment of the Canadian economy. Finance, insurance and real estate services employed an average of 1.1m people in 2014, or around 6.3% of the workforce. Finance and insurance services alone account for just under 7% of economic output.
As a high-income country, Canada is an attractive market for financial services. In 2014 GDP per head (at PPP) was US$44,285, below the level of the US (US$54,554) but above that of the UK (US$39,916).
Canada has a highly developed financial system with a variety of institutions, many sources of corporate funds and a wide array of options for investment. Conditions are similar to those of the financial markets in the US, although the smaller size of the Canadian economy limits market depth and liquidity.
