摘要
Denmark's car market registered healthy growth in 2014. The Economist Intelligence Unit expects it to continue expanding moderately in the forecast period as a whole, supported by a gradual strengthening of household spending amid low interest rates and rising employment levels.
High taxes will remain an impediment to new-car ownership. The effective tax levied on new-car purchases is 180%, in addition to an annual vehicle excise duty, a green owner tax and a countervailing charge (for diesel cars).
Denmark has not had a vehicle-manufacturing industry since the 1960s, partly because of its proximity to major automotive manufacturing countries such as France, Germany, Sweden and the UK. The automotive sector relies entirely on imports of finished vehicles. There are, however, several suppliers of car parts and accessories, which employ about 6,000 people.
