摘要
China has been the word's largest market for passenger cars since 2010.
Passenger-car sales will grow by an average annual rate of 5.5%a year in 2015-19,extending the county's lead over the world's second·largest car i market, the US,despite a rebound in demand there. According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacmlers(CAAM), passenger car sales increased bv 9.2%year on year in the first 11 months of 2014,down from growth of over 15%in the corresponding period of 2013.The transition to slower growth in China's economy and restrictions imposed on car use in major cities played key roles in limiting sales growth.Commercial vehicle sales declined in 2014 and ale likely to rise only slowly over the forecast period. Chinese anti-trust authoriries conducted investigations in mid-2014 into foreign auto makers and challenged their pricing practices. The probe resulted in fines and also price reductions for some popular models or parts. If lower prices persist, the government's move could improve affordability in the long 1"1111 and increase car sales. However, domestic carmakers could be adversely affected as the price of foreign brands becomes mole competitive. Plans by foreign manufacturers to expand production capacity in China in the forecast period risk exacerbating overcapacity issues.Overcapacity is currently concentrated among small domestic producers;pressure for consolidation in this market sector will build in 2015-19.
