The president, Alpha Conde, is likely to be re-elected in 2015, and his Rassemblement du peuple de Guinee (RPG) will remain in power over the remainder of the forecast period.
Political stability remains fragile. Key tests will be reconciling ethnic groups, reforming the military and managing expectations over living standards.
The Economist Intelligence Unit expects the budget deficit to narrow from an estimated 5.2% of GDP in 2013 to 2.6% of GDP in 2015, owing to public financial management reform and rising international donor aid.
