The president, Uhuru Kenyatta, will remain in power until the next election in 2017-18. His Jubilee Coalition will remain the largest group in parliament, and the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy will be the official opposition.
Real GDP growth is expected to rise to 5.7% in 2015, from an estimated 5.2% in 2014, supported by infrastructure projects and rising household consumption, and will remain strong in 2016-19, but structural constraints will persist.
The current-account deficit is expected to narrow from around 7.8% of GDP in 2014 to 3.4% of GDP in 2019, helped by steady growth in earnings from exports, servicing regional trade, tourism and remittances.
