摘要
The automotive sector is Poland's second largest by turnover, employing about 170,000 people. Automotive output constitutes almost 10% of industrial production. In 2014 Poland produced 472,600 passenger cars, down from a peak of 842,000 in 2008, according to the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA). The pace of the contraction slowed to only 0.3% last year, however, and in the first seven months of 2015 output rose by 16.3%. Truck production has continued to rise each year since 2010, but output was flat in January-July this year.
The 12.9% year-on-year growth for new passenger car registrations in 2014 was the fastest for four years. Sales rose by a further 3% in the first seven months of 2015, according to the Polish Automotive Industry Association (PZPM), whereas those of commercial vehicles and buses rose by 15.9%.
As the pace accelerates, The Economist Intelligence Unit expects vehicle sales to rise by 7.9% at the end of 2015 on a year earlier. Continued growth will see the market exceed 500,000 units in 2018, before declining slightly in 2019, There are risks to this forecast, however, including new flare-ups in the Ukraine crisis and a renewed economic slowdown in Europe.
